On the day of her coronation she stared blankly at her reflection in the murky waters of the cave, siren in humanoid form. Now, fully aware that her companions would not be attending, she ground her fangs, distinctly tasting copper and sea. “Betrayal.” She thought bitterly, “That shedevil- no. I won’t let her ruin my day. Never again.” Instead of anger or sadness she felt her hellbound soul become frighteningly cool… the bond of mind and body breaking within, no longer in unison. She stared blankly, she felt numb, and her mind thought of nothing. The sheer nothingness that had once, long ago, consumed her body… newly consumed her in a bittersweet embrace.
She felt a distant echo, a quiet thought in the back of her mind, “be the best, the fiercest, the indisputable.” No one must ever know how much it hurt to lose, or be lost.
The red horned demoness clawed at the putrid walls engulfing her. The Gatekeeper stayed still, head in her hands, all four faces silent, eyes glowing. “Filthy peasant.” She spat as she turned to The Gatekeeper, halting her futile effort to dominate the disgusting walls. “Never trust the undying.” Said a face, another face grimaced, narrowing the light. “As you know, We must be leaving soon.” An unseen face stated. The curse of resurrection blessed The Gatekeeper now. The red demoness spread her ghastly wings and let out a growl of frustration. Quick motion and sudden darkness fell upon her soaked skin. Alone in the darkness. Alone with herself.
